Mint Payments Partners With the Travel Network Group to Revolutionise Payments for UK Travel Businesses
Travel industry fintech Mint Payments has launched in the UK to fix the broken travel payments market, spearheaded by a strategic partnership with The Travel Network Group.
Founded in Sydney, Mint is the leading travel payments provider in Australia and New Zealand processing more than AUD $3.5bn (£1.7bn) in transactions annually.
Its UK expansion is underpinned by the persistent underserving of the travel payments market. Legacy providers have stepped away, leaving the UK travel sector especially exposed. By partnering with The Travel Network Group, one of the UK’s largest independent travel agency network consortiums with over 1,100 members and affiliates, Mint will transform trust, speed, and protection of payments.
Alex Teoh, Mint Payments CEO, said: “The UK travel payments market remains dominated by incumbent banks – but they do not understand the intricate requirements of the travel industry and have not provided innovative, cost-effective solutions to help travel businesses grow. Travel is known for customer excellence, but this level of excellence is rare in financial services and paytech serving the industry – it represents a significant opportunity for Mint to shake up the market.”
Specialising in supporting travel agents within the highly complex travel industry, Mint provides automated payment flows, flexible customer payment options (including card, bank transfer and digital wallets), multi-currency facilities, chargeback guarantees, and integration with the technology they use. Mint Protect ensures peace of mind for travel agents and tour operators by protecting their cash flow and customers even if a supplier fails, which legacy providers do not do.
The UK represents a significant market opportunity for Mint with transactions on its platform predicted to grow to AUD $4.5bn (£2.2bn) in 2026-2027. More than 4,500 UK travel agencies process an estimated £75bn in consumer and business-to-business payments annually, a market four times larger than Australia.
Underlining the commitment to its UK expansion, Mint has built integrations with UK payment systems and travel booking software and has established a UK-based team to support The Travel Network Group members and future clients.
Gary Lewis, The Travel Network Group CEO, commented: “We are committed to giving our members technology that supports their businesses, and payments are a critical part of that journey. Mint’s expertise in the travel industry, combined with their innovative tools like Mint Protect and a dedicated support team based in the UK makes them the right partner to provide our members with secure, efficient, and future-ready payment solutions.”
Alex Teoh added: “The UK is the logical first step for international expansion. Travel agents here face the same payment workflow challenges we’ve solved in Australia. Fragmented systems, poor support, and products not built for how they actually operate. We know this industry, the regulatory environment and we know how to improve it.”
Marking the first major international expansion outside of the Asia-Pacific region, the partnership deal with The Travel Network Group will see Mint power payment functions for the network’s new platform, Vision.
