Searching For Spain’ To Debut On April 27

CNN has announced that the new culinary travel series “Eva Longoria: Searching for Spain” will debut at 9 PM ET/PT on April 27th, 2024. Longoria, an award-winning actress, producer, director and activist, will take viewers on a virtual culinary tour of Spain.

“Spain’s rich culture, passionate people and bold and diverse cuisines have captivated me as long as I can remember, especially knowing that one of my Mexican-American ancestors has deep roots in this remarkable country,” said Longoria in the CNN press release announcing the series.

“The opportunity to immerse myself in Spain’s many regions, to discover its fascinating history, to indulge in its dynamic culinary traditions and innovations has been nothing short of exhilarating. I am so excited to finally share this incredible journey with the world,” she added.

The ‘Searching For’ Recipe For Success

This isn’t Longoria’s first role as a guide on a CNN gastronomic journey. Eva Longoria: Searching for Mexico aired in 2023, showcasing Mexican culture and cuisine. A frequent visitor to Mexico, she traveled there often and maintained a home in the country for over a decade. Now, she splits her time between Mexico and Spain with her husband, Jose Bastone, and son.

Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy, which aired in 2021, created the prototype for this popular food/travel genre that introduces viewers to a passionate guest host who visits chefs, restauranteurs, food producers, locals and other culinary experts who share their expertise about the foods of a single country.

The Searching For franchise received 3 Primetime Emmy® Awards and 12 nominations.

Tasting The Regional Cuisine And Culture Of Spain

In the new series, Lingerie will explore the regional cuisine of Spain in food-centric destinations that include San Sebastian, Barcelona, Madrid, Andalusia, Galicia, Asturias and Marbella, which have all helped shape the flavors of Spanish cuisine as it is known around the world.

Longoria has ancestral ties to Spain and its food. In the segment on the Asturias in northwest Spain, she will have what is expected to be an emotional reunion with family members who still live in the town of Longoria. She will also bring viewers inside her new Spanish home in Marbella.

CNN debuted the official trailer for Searching for Spain at the 24th annual Food Network South Beach Wine & Food Festival presented by Capital One (SOBEWFF®) on Sunday, February 23 in Miami. “My ancestors left Spain in 1603 to go to the New World,” Longoria told attendees at a cooking demo at the SOBEWFF event.

“There’s still a town called Longoria in Asturias, she said. “it was really beautiful to visit the homeland, the little town that I came from that my ancestors left. My thirteenth great-grandfather left Spain in 1603 and arrived in Veracruz, Mexico. He was eleven years old on a boat by himself, so going back to Asturias made me very emotional,” she added.
