Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts in India, has partnered with Phool to upcycle floral waste.

Preferred Travel Group is spotlighting global initiatives across its portfolio to celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8, 2025. These programs, aligned with the #AccelerateAction theme, demonstrate the group’s commitment to empowering women through impactful community engagement and advocacy.

Preferred
ATELIER Playa Mujeres’ team (the Arteleros) in action.

In Cancun, Mexico, ATELIER Playa Mujeres, part of the Preferred Hotels & Resorts L.V.X. Collection, has implemented the Painting Smiles program. In partnership with the Ciudad de la Alegría Foundation, this initiative supports various Homes with a Cause, including the Home of Women. The program aids women who have experienced violence or abandonment through guest donations and staff volunteerism.

Talita door hangers at Nordic Light Hotel.

Nordic Light Hotel in Stockholm, Sweden, a Preferred Hotels & Resorts Lifestyle Collection member, collaborates with Talita, a non-profit organization supporting women leaving prostitution and human trafficking. The hotel offers financial contributions and work training opportunities and raises guest awareness through informative door hangers in every room.

The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts in India, part of the Preferred Hotels & Resorts Legend Collection and Beyond Green, has partnered with Phool to upcycle floral waste into eco-friendly incense products. This initiative reduces environmental impact and empowers women entrepreneurs by providing training in sustainable product crafting.

SCP Corcovado Wilderness Lodge.

In Costa Rica, SCP Corcovado Wilderness Lodge, a Preferred Hotels & Resorts L.V.X. Collection and Beyond Green member, is certified under the RED SOFIA program as a safe destination for solo female travelers. The lodge also supports local NGOs combating sexual abuse and preserving indigenous crafts through women-led initiatives.

Virgin Hotels Edinburgh.

Virgin Hotels Edinburgh, part of the Preferred Hotels & Resorts L.V.X. Collection, has collaborated with Lalla, a sustainable, women-led rug company. This partnership has resulted in bespoke Moroccan rugs for the hotel’s chambers and suites created by female weaving cooperatives in Morocco’s Atlas Mountains. The project employed 215 women over 18 months, blending sustainability with cultural preservation.
