Internova Travel Group promotes women’s health in the workplace
Internova Travel Group hosted its second UK Women of Internova event in Glasgow, focusing on broader women’s health issues in the workplace.
GLASGOW, SCOTLAND – Internova Travel Group, one of the industry’s largest travel services companies, hosted its Women of Internova event at its Glasgow offices on Thursday 24th October, 2024. This marked the second time the employee resource group hosted an event in the UK, following the success of the first gathering held in London in July, which focused on ‘Leveraging Your Emotions at Work’.
Organised by Nicki Tempest-Mitchell of Barrhead Travel and Kirsty Chan of Global Travel Collection, the session took place as an in-person meeting, with virtual participation from employees internationally. The meeting featured an insightful presentation and Q&A led by Helen Tomlinson; the UK’s former first Government-appointed Menopause Champion.
The session, titled “Women’s Health in the Workplace”, explored how conversations around women’s health have broadened beyond menopause, addressing the full spectrum of health issues that affect women’s ability to thrive in the workplace. Helen Tomlinson delved into how workplaces can support women in reaching their full potential by acknowledging and addressing diverse health needs.
“As we continue to grow the conversation about women’s health, it’s vital to focus on all aspects that can impact their careers, not just a single issue like menopause. This inclusive approach benefits women at every stage of their professional lives,” says Tomlinson.
The event also supported Dress for Success Glasgow, a charity dedicated to helping women return to work by providing professional attire and career support. Attendees were encouraged to contribute donations of workwear, shoes, accessories and handbags in good condition. This initiative followed in the footsteps of similar efforts by Women of Internova champions in the United States to support Bottomless Closet, and in London, Smart Works.
Nicki Tempest-Mitchell, Sales and Marketing Director at Barrhead Travel, added, “We were proud to host this event in our Glasgow office and thrilled to see such an important conversation taking centre stage. By fostering a more supportive environment and educating allies on supporting women through various life stages, we can create workplaces where everyone can succeed. We’re keen to continue driving Women of Internova activity globally and excited for the future of this group.”
The Women of Internova employee resource group was created in 2021 with an aim to deliver insightful and uplifting content to Internova Travel Group staff around the world. Since its inception, the group has grown significantly, with new Champions from business units worldwide. The Women of Internova platform promotes diversity and inclusivity, offering opportunities for learning, growth and support across the company.
