Fright Fest Extreme at Great Adventure Takes Halloween Scares to a Whole New Level
Fright Fest at Six Flags Great Adventure Resort is scary enough – without it debuting for the season on Friday the 13th!
The all-new Fright Fest Extreme takes Halloween scaries to a whole new level. Billed as “a world where nightmarish creatures inspired by legendary horror brands come to life,” this ain’t no show for the faint of heart. The bone-chilling Halloween-themed attractions include new scares and classic shows based on horror films and series from the theater, TV and streaming services.
Celebrate the 20th anniversary of the SAW franchise by being plunged into the depths of Jigsaw’s twisted mind. You’ll come face-to-face with some of John Kramer’s most diabolical contraptions before time runs out.
You’ll strap in and investigate the cases that inspired The Conjuring, Annabelle and The Nun. In each investigation, you’ll come across cursed artifacts that make you the target. Don’t be fooled by innocent Halloween fun at Hawkins High, because things quickly turn upside down at the Stranger Things attraction. Visit the Army of the Dead, where Las Vegas is under lockdown following a recent viral outbreak and you must look for an escape while battling the undead so you can survive.
Trick ‘r Treat is not your neighborhood candy grab. Instead, you’ll enter a dark and twisted candy trail nightmare on a jack-o-lantern-lit path. You’ll be “cast” in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie as visitors to Harlow, and you’ll be there when the deadly secret is revealed.
Aside from nine haunted houses, the classic haunted mazes include Big Top Terror with its carnival freaks, Asylum and The Witches Reflection.
The five Scare Zones include:
Exile Canyon, where you search for gold in underground mines while trying to avoid zombies
CarnEvil at the Boardwalk which is haunted by maniacal clowns
the Bloody Fountain near the zombie graveyard
Curse of Blackbeard’s Bounty that has ghost pirates and sea monsters roaming
Demon District where the Jersey Devil resides.
‘Nuff said.
There are shows, too. Inside the Showcase Theater, you can watch Unleashed, which has acrobatics, illusions and dance. Dead Man’s Party tells the tales of Dr. Frights song-and-dance bash. Blade Drummers rock out as bladesmiths. The Freak Show is wild and wacky macabre.
Fright Fest Extreme is offered on weekends and select nights from September 13 through November 3. You can upgrade your ticket to an RIP Tour, which grants you a personal “gore” guide and express access to all of the haunted attractions.
This event is not recommended for children under 13 or anyone who is scared easily. Keep in mind, Six Flags announced a new chaperone policy that prohibits anyone under the age of 15 to be in the park without an adult after 5 pm.
Family-Friendly Park Attractions
Families can enjoy SFGA during the daytime, especially during Kids Boo Fest, taking place on weekends from September 14 through November 3. Kids can dress up and trick-or-treat around the park, and enjoy themselves at Cornstalk National Park.
Oktoberfest takes place on weekends from September 7 through November 3 and lets you experience German culture through entertainment, folk singers, food (bratwurst and potato pancakes) and drinks (beer).
And you can opt for the Wild Safari Off-Road Adventure, which is open on select days this fall.
There are a variety of ticket options available, including daytime only, day/night combo tickets, Fright Fest Extreme and season passes.
Six Flags Great Adventure Resort is located at 1 Six Flags Way, Jackson.
